Introduction
On July 10, 2018, IID Institute received license No. A-1946 from the Ministry of Science and Technology to operate as a science and technology organization in the fields of innovation and development-related research, provision of science and technology services, and domestic and international cooperation.
The IID Institute has had three generations of presidents:
- Assoc. Professor of Science Vo Dai Luoc, term 2018-2020
- Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngo, 12-2020 to 03-2022
- Dr. Chu Van Thang, beginning in March 2022 and continuing to the present
In its early beginnings, the Vietnam Research Institute for Innovation & Development concentrated on innovation research and economic development. From 2021 up to now, with a new staff structure, the IID Institute’s development has a new focus on innovation and sustainable development, with a greater scope for innovation and economic development.
VISION
The IID Institute provides research, information, and knowledge platforms related to innovation, as well as a place to connect domestic and international resources, public, private, and community resources to assist in the development of a powerful ecosystem in Vietnam for innovation, creativity, and social entrepreneurship.
MISSION
The IID Institute was founded with the goal of promoting resources, especially young people, that would help Vietnam become a society that is innovative, creative, entrepreneurial, and sustainable.

Executive Board
Prof. Vo Dai Luoc, Founder of IID, Chair of VAPEC organisation
General Director of the Asia-Pacific Economic Center, member of the Economic Advisory Council of The Vietnamese Fatherland Front.He was a former member of the Advisory Group for Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet.
Dr. Chu Van Thang, Director, IID Institute
He is a consultant for the Aus4 Innovation program – an Australian government’s development assistance program that aims to strengthen Vietnam’s innovation system. He is also the Expert in Business Administration, Vietnam – Finland Innovation Partnership Program phase 1 (IPP) and the National Coordinator of IPP phase 2.
Associate Professor Dr. Truong Thi Nam Thang, Lead Researcher, IID Institute
Truong Thi Nam Thang is the Associate Professor at the Faculty of Business Management, National Economics University. She had been the founding director of the Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CSIE) under the National Economics University from 2017 to 2024. She was appointed the Associate Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Innovation, University of Cambridge from 2019-2021.

He is lecture in a Investment Economics Department, Investment Faculty, National Economics University, Ha Noi. He used to participate in INDP’s Fostering Social Impact Business in Vietnam project
