On April 23, 2022, the grand finale of the Map the System 2022 competition took place at the National Economics University. This competition focused on systems thinking to address global and local societal issues, saw the culmination of months of training and selection. The winning team will represent Vietnam at the global finals at the University of Oxford in June.

Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Nam Thang, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation (CSIE); Mai The Tam, representative of the Institute for Innovation and Development (IID); Jury members, faculty, staff, and nearly 200 students
In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong encouraged students to participate in global competitions and highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering a global mindset among its students.
The winning team, Horizon, presented a compelling project on the issue of illegal labor migration from Vietnam. Their innovative approach and passionate presentation impressed the judges.
Map the System is a global competition organized by the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Oxford. It aims to shift the focus in social impact education from a “startup-centric” approach to a deeper understanding of complex social and environmental issues.
The Vietnamese edition of Map the System was a joint effort between the Skoll Centre, the National Economics University’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation (CSIE), and the Institute for Innovation and Development (VID). The competition received overwhelming interest from students across Vietnam, with over 10 teams making it to the semi-finals.
The grand finale showcased the talent and creativity of the finalists, who presented innovative solutions to pressing social issues.
The closing ceremony was filled with gratitude and excitement. The winning team expressed their commitment to further develop their project and represent Vietnam at the global finals.
The success of Map the System 2022 is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the organizing committee, mentors, and participants. With its strong foundation, Map the System is poised to become an annual event, inspiring future generations of social innovators in Vietnam.
