Asia Socio-Economic Report 2020, Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency KoSEA

For many consecutive years, the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency (KoSEA) has been the focal point to build a network of business support organizations in Asia, especially East Asia. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, network connection activities have been halted. KoSEA has proposed the initiative on the implementation of an annual report on social enterprises in East Asia in overcoming difficulties and challenges of Covid-19. Therefore, the Asia Socio-Economic Report 2020 was founded.

This report consists of two parts:

  • Part one provides an overview of the socio-economic sector and social enterprises in the five countries participating in the report, including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines and South Korea.
  • Part two of the report introduces how social enterprises in the five East Asian countries above have overcome Covid-19 pandemic or have contributed to solving Covid-19 related issues.

In this Report 2020, the VID Institute is a partner to write about the status and situations of social enterprises in Vietnam. In addition to the introduction to the region and policies for Vietnamese social enterprises, the VID contributed four Vietnamese social impacting enterprises, including:

  • Vulcan Augmentics specializes in robotic arm solutions for landmine victims in Vietnam
  • CHIR Center specializes in training and building a hospital management system with a network of tens of thousands of qualified medical staff.
  • GLink is a chain of clinics specializing in high-risk individuals in Vietnam
  • Seed Planter is a platform to connect young people who aspire to promote social entrepreneurship in Vietnam, has conducted many activities including capacity building, connecting resources to support Vietnamese social enterprises.
